Coronavirus Guidelines and Procedures

In accordance with the state of Massachusetts guidelines, classes will be conducted with new protective measures in place to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Click to read our new protocols.

Class Policies

If only one person signs up for a class, Diablo will cancel the class and depending on the student’s preference will either issue a refund or move the student into another class.

Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Once a class has filled, applicant’s names will be placed on a waiting list in the order they are received and notified only in the case of a class opening. We usually open additional classes on the same day for the waiting list students, so don’t hesitate signing up in the waiting list.

Cancellation Policies

The full tuition amount is required at the time of registration. Payment can be made by credit card and gift certificate only.

Students who cancel within 24 hours of booking/payment may transfer their payment to a gift certificate, or receive a full refund (as long as the class is more than 3 days away).

Students who cancel more than 3 days before the class may transfer their payment to a gift certificate minus a $30 cancellation fee, or receive a 40% refund.

No refunds or gift certificates will be given for missed classes or classes cancelled less than 3 days before the class.

In the event of a cancellation by Diablo, students may transfer their deposit to a future class or receive a full refund.

You may give your class slot to a family member or friend at any time, as long as they meet our age requirements (14+ for Hot Shop and Flame Shop). You will have until the end of the business day (on the day you contact us to cancel) to let us know the name(s), phone number(s), and email address(es) of the student(s) taking your place. If we do not hear back from you, or you do not wish to give your spot(s) away to a friend or family member, your registration will automatically be cancelled at 5pm on the day of your cancellation request.

What to Bring

To work safely in the glass studio, you must wear closed-toed sneakers or shoes. Please do not wear open-toed sandals, flip flops, heels, or very short clothing.

Only cotton clothing is allowed (mostly cotton clothing is fine!) for glassblowing and flameworking classes. Remember, polyester melts and that’s no fun! ! Most people wear a tee shirt and pants, or a tee shirt and shorts if it’s hot out!

Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move around in!

Bring bands to hold your hair back if it is long.

Bring a full water bottle. Due to COVID-19, our water fountain is shut off, and it gets hot in the hot shop! Gatorade is also recommended in the summer months to stay hydrated.

Diablo does not serve food. For safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, please do not eat on the premises.

For all classes, we will provide you with safety goggles appropriate for the studio you will be working in. If you wear eye glasses regularly, bring them!

Pick Up Policies

Before coming to pick up your pieces please read our new our new coronavirus procedures.

Please email us at info@diabloglassschool.com to coordinate picking up your pieces. Please note that our office hours are limited, but we are always happy to put your pieces out on our Student Pickups table in the office. Pieces can be picked up from our Student Pickups table at times when office staff are not in the office, but teachers and renters will be in the building (usually weekday evenings and weekend days).

Include your name(s), date of the class, the teacher’s name and the number of pieces you are picking up, to make sure they are ready for you.

Please bring a box for carrying your pieces.

Due to the heavy volume of classes, all pieces must be picked up within one month of the class.

We can mail your pieces to you for an extra charge of $20 for flame shop pieces and $25 for hot shop and flat shop pieces (up to 2 pieces). $5 will be added for each additional piece. Shipping forms are available at the front desk specifying all the required information.

Gift Certificate Policies

Per Massachusetts State Law, Gift Certificates expire 7 years from the date of purchase. Gift certificates purchased more than 7 years ago will not be honored as payment.
