GLASSBLOWING

Swedish Bowl
Course Fee: $175

Class size limit: 9
The Swedish Bowl is similar to the glass paperweight but students will be working with a blowpipe to add a hollow to their piece and then allowing the bubble to collapse creating a bowl shape in the center. This introductory class guides the first time glass artist through the most crucial skills. Students will learn how to gather glass from the furnace, how to shape and control, and how to apply color. In a fun and informative manner our instructors will introduce you to tools, safety and basic glass theory. Every student will leave with a gorgeous funky glass bowl and a strong foundation for future exploration. No experience necessary. All materials included.

Glass Fridays: Stemless Wine Glass
Price per workshop: $110

On the last Friday of every month we welcome you to join us for an evening of glass, friends and wine. Spend three hours in our glassblowing studio to experience an introductory taste of working with hot glass making stemless glasses. Afterwards, you are invited to watch a glassblowing demonstration by our talented glass artists, socialize with the other attendees and have a glass of wine.

Teen Weekend: Mixed Level Glassblowing (4 Wk)
Cost: $500

Class size limit: 4
Teens will focus on building their skills and understanding of hot glass. This is a great course for a teen that has taken Diablo's Teen Camp, a first time student, to the more practiced. Due to the small class size this workshop is open to all skill levels. Diablo's teachers will drill the basic skills of gathering, blowing, and tool handling. Class may also include skill development of the following (depending on individuals level) drinking glass, sculptural design, and larger vessels.

Glass Pipe Sampler, One Hitter Chillums

In this introductory workshop students will learn how to heat borosilicate glass at a bench torch to create their very own chillum style glass pipe. Basic color application will also be introduced. No experience necessary.

In this beginners workshop students will learn how to heat borosilicate glass at a bench torch to create their very own functional glass spoon style pipe. Blowing glass at the torch, shaping and color application will be covered. No experience necessary

Glass Pipes
Course Fee: $350

Class size limit: 9
In this glass pipe four week workshop students will develop skills and techniques for creating a range of functional glass pipe styles using borosilicate glass at a bench torch. Blowing glass at the torch, shaping and color application will be covered. Projects will start with one hitters and spoons and will progress into more elaborate shapes and color application techniques. No experience necessary.

FUSING AND SLUMPING

Fusing with Reactive Glass
Course Fee: $175

Class size limit: 10
This 4 hour workshop introduces students to the effects of reactivate glass colors, and how to use them with copper and silver to create various effects. Students will be shown a variety of examples and will create their own test tiles to have examples of their own.

Fused Glass Serving Platter
Course Fee: $175

Class size limit: 10
This project based workshop will guide students of any level through fused glass techniques to create a one of a kind fused glass platter, to be treasured for years to come. This class will cover basic kiln forming theory, and color application. Each student will create one presentation piece for the dinner table that will be ready for pick up one week after the class.

Funny Faces - Ages 6 and up
Course Fee: $35

Class size limit: 9
In this workshop students ages 6 and up will spend 1 hour making one to four fused glass funny faces. Think Mr. Potato Head but with glass, students will be given a blank face and bits and pieces of glass to make the eyes, nose and mouth. Pieces will need to bake in the kiln following the class, and will be ready for pick up a week after the class, shipping options available.

On the last Friday of every month we welcome you to join us for an evening of glass, friends and wine. Afterwards, you are invited to watch a glassblowing demonstration by our talented glass artists, and socialize with the other attendees.

Stained Glass Decorative Mirror
