ONE SESSION WORKSHOPS

Fused Glass Sampler
Course Fee: $60

Class size limit: 9
This beginner course is the best way to enjoy the excitement of crafting cold glass while making your very own piece. Students will be introduced to the art of flat glass and kiln forming. You will experience cutting glass, arranging colors and shapes, and finish with beautiful fused pendants. The course is intended to introduce flat glasswork to the student for further consideration.

Fused Glass Pendants
Course Fee: $85

This class will introduce you to the basic principals behind forming glass for the kiln to create beautiful fused glass pendants. You will be introduced to all of the tools, basic glass cutting and kiln forming theory on pendant sized pieces. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

2:00pm - 4:00pm

Fused Glass Clock
Course Fee: $125

Class size limit: 10
In this three hour workshop students will create a one-of-a-kind fused glass piece that will be assembled into a clock. Using clear glass, colored scraps, frits, and stringers students will explore the medium of fused glass. Each student will complete a few small pieces to get their creative juices flowing followed by one larger piece to be made into a clock. After the piece has been fired, a few days after the class, Diablo staff will drill a hole in the center of the piece and install the clock parts. Students will return one week later to pick up their fully assembled fused glass clock! (shipping options available)

Fusing with Reactive Glass
Course Fee: $175

Class size limit: 10
This 4 hour workshop introduces students to the effects of reactivate glass colors, and how to use them with copper and silver to create various effects. Students will be shown a variety of examples and will create their own test tiles to have examples of their own.

Glass Judaica Class: Menorahs, Seder and Challah Plates
Course Fee: $175

Class size limit: 10
Fused glass Menorahs, Seder and Challah plates make great presents and family heirlooms, which will be treasured for years to come. This introductory class will cover basic kiln forming theory, and color application. Using precut elements, you will assemble a piece of glass to be fused and then slumped into your chosen form of a Menorah, Seder or Challah plate. Your pieces will be ready to be picked up one week after the class.

Fused Glass Serving Platter
Course Fee: $175

Class size limit: 10
This project based workshop will guide students of any level through fused glass techniques to create a one of a kind fused glass platter, to be treasured for years to come. This class will cover basic kiln forming theory, and color application. Each student will create one presentation piece for the dinner table that will be ready for pick up one week after the class.

TWO SESSION WORKSHOPS

Fused Glass 101
Course Fee: $325

Class size limit: 9
In this two-day workshop, using colorful pieces of glass, powders and frits, students will learn to design several pendants, coasters, ornaments, sun catchers, tiles and a fused and slumped plate or bowl. This class will introduce you to the basic principles behind forming glass in the kiln to create beautiful fused glass pieces. You will be introduced to all of the tools, basic glass cutting and kiln forming theory, as well as tack-fusing. No experience necessary.

FOUR SESSION WORKSHOPS

Kiln Forming 1: Fusing and Slumping
Course Fee: $300

Class size limit: 9
This four-week class is an excellent overview to the world of kiln formed glass. Kiln forming is a process by which glass is assembled, put into a kiln, and heated in a controlled manner to achieve a wide range of effects. There will be discussions about kiln forming theory, color theory, design, and pattern. You will learn how to cut straight lines, curves, and circles. The exercises will cover kiln carving, fusing, slumping, some painterly effects, and how to cut straight lines, curves, and circles. Students will end the class with many study pieces and two finished pieces, which bring the techniques learned together. Demonstrations and class discussions will alternate with plenty of hands-on work time. No experience necessary.

Kiln Forming 2: Getting into the Kiln
Course Fee: $350

Class size limit: 9
This class is for the experienced fuser who is looking to learn about what's happening in the kiln. Pattern bars, drop throughs and kiln-carving will be covered to create elements for future fusings that exhibit the effects of high temperatures on the glass. This workshop also includes in-depth discussions of kiln firing schedules and prepares students for developing firing schedules for their own projects. Materials included. Extra glass available for sale.
